Dr David Guppy BDS MSc MRD RCS (Lon), GDC Number: 61862 Specialist in Endodontics, Implant Surgeon David Guppy qualified from Guy’s Dental Hospital, London in 1987. He is an accredited specialist with the General Dental Council. One of the few to achieve distinction in his master’s, David is a member of The Royal College of Surgeons in restorative dentistry.He has vast experience in implant dentistry, endodontics, facial-aesthetics, cosmetics and reconstruction, and is always in demand as a lecturer, mentor and advisor. For many years he was a clinical lecturer at The Dental Institute at King’s College and has helped hundreds of dentists in their post graduate studies.
David is a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists, British Endondontic Society and the British Dental Association.
David has been in private practice for 20 years and most recently has been at The Parade in Cardiff. David is proud of his longstanding relationship with over one hundred referring dentists. His dedication to his patients and enthusiasm for his profession will not be surpassed. David was born in Monmouthshire and returned to the county with his young family 13 years ago. Never happier than when enjoying the outdoor life, David and his family are keen tennis players, golfers and runners.
Dr Jim Dufty

Jim graduated in Dentistry from the University of Leeds (BChD) in 1999, joining the Army and completing his Vocational Training in Northern Germany. He served a year as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2004, has run several military Dental Centres and has completed extensive postgraduate training, gaining:

After completing his Perio training at the Eastman Dental Institute, UCL, under Professor Nikos Donos, he led the periodontal service for the British Armed Forces. This has resulted in impressive and extensive experience in often challenging cases which has enabled Jim to provide care in all areas of periodontal surgery, including resective, regeneration and mucogingival techniques.
Jim takes referrals for perio and perio/ restorative patients and provides a full range of both non-surgical and surgical perio treatments. He is also involved with the placement of implants and the treatment of peri-implantitis. He has published internationally and was awarded the BDA Armed Forces Group Research Prize and the Royal Army Medical Corps Leishman Prize in 2016. He continues to be involved with dental postgraduate education, working with King’s College London’s Prosthodontic MClinDent and Aesthetic Dentistry MSc distance learning programmes in both teaching and advisory roles.
We welcome periodontal referrals for him to see. Where possible, his default position is to save and preserve the natural dentition. However, where this is not possible, periodontal treatment will be performed and your patient will be directed back to you for restorative treatment – unless a clear indication is given for us to give an implant option.
Dr Keri Turberville BDS, MFDS RCPS , M.SurgDent RCPS (Glasg) GDC Number 80803BDS, MFDS RCPS , M.SurgDent RCPS (Glasg) GDC Number 80803 Oral Surgery Keri qualified from UWCM, Cardiff in 2002 and obtained her membership with The Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow in 2005.
Her focus since qualifying has been on developing her skills in Oral Surgery. Following Senior house officer and Staff grade posts she completed her final membership examination in Surgical dentistry with the Royal College and was delighted to be admitted onto the Specialist list in Oral Surgery in 2010.
Keri is currently employed by Cwm Taf University Health Board as a Speciality Dr in Oral Surgery and works at Prince Charles Hospital, Royal Glamorgan Hospital and Brecon War Memorial Hospital. She also conducts treatment sessions at Porth Dental teaching unit and is actively involved in the teaching of medical and dental students and postgraduate dentists.
Keri is particularly interested in treating those who may be nervous or apprehensive about their Oral surgery procedure and endeavours to make this as relaxed and calm as possible, utilising intravenous sedation if appropriate.
In her spare time, Keri is normally running around after her two small children, who keep her on her toes.
When relaxing she enjoys drawing and painting.
Dr Ben Cross BDS MScD MFDS RCS (Lon) MOrth (Edin) GDC Number 80759 Specialist OrthodontistBen qualified as a dentist from the University of Wales, College of Medicine in 2002 and spent 15 happy years as a dentist in the British Army. During this time, he spent time working in the UK, Germany, Africa, Iraq, Cyprus and Gibraltar. After a year working as a Senior House Officer in the maxillofacial surgery department in Portsmouth, he was selected to undertake 3 years further specialist training in orthodontics. This culminated in him returning to Wales to qualify with distinction from Cardiff in 2011 and being accepted on to the GDC specialist list for orthodontics.
He has extensive experience of treating both adults and children and has spent his career as an orthodontist working with other specialists to enhance patients’ smiles and confidence. He is able to offer several aesthetic orthodontic options including the WIN lingual appliance, Invisalign aligners and tooth coloured brackets. His focus during treatment is to determine a patient’s dental desires and to address each of these needs individually.
Ben is a keen cyclist and lives a contented life with his wife and two children in the countryside near Bristol.
Originally from South Wales, Jason qualified from Bristol University in 1995. He started his career as a House Officer at Cardiff Dental Hospital then on to working in a busy private practice in Bristol. Jason developed an interest in cosmetic and implant dentistry completing an implant year accreditation. He completed a highly respected Cosmetic and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry course in 2007 leading him to become a member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dental Practitioners in 2008. In 2010 he was given a coveted national award.
Jason’s clinical interests embrace all aspects of modern aesthetic dentistry, regularly attending courses in dentistry worldwide. Jason has developed a particular interest in short term and cosmetic orthodontics; becoming one of the largest providers of Invisalign in the South West. More recently he extended his range of short-term orthodontics to fit individual’s needs both in time and cost, including lingual, cFast, Inline, Inman Aligners, Six Month Smiles, 2d Lingual, Simply Align, Simply Smile and Secret Smile. His passion for short-term orthodontics has taken him from his surgery into teaching internationally and he is now one of the first British dentists to join an American based mentor and teaching group outside of the USA.
Now having moved from Bristol to a cottage in the Wye Valley, Jason is either tinkering with cars in the garage or out getting muddy with his fiancé and his spaniel Purdey.
Elisabeth qualified as a dentist from the University of Bergen, Norway. After graduating she ran her own Practice on the West Coast of Norway. Elisabeth did her post graduate training at the University of Oslo from 2003-2006 and received her specialist qualification in Endodontics in 2006.
She is well renowned for lecturing in different Endodontic topics and is a certified trainer with Dentsply Maillefer delivering hands- on courses. Elisabeth is a certified member of the European Society of Endodontology and the Endodontic Opinion Leaders Forum. She has been teaching both postgraduate and undergraduate students at the Department of Endodontics at the University of Oslo. She is now settled in Cardiff with her partner.
Aly Virani is a graduate of the Cardiff University and has been awarded his Diploma in Implant Dentistry by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His practice of dentistry is limited to the placement and restoration of dental implants.
He spent 5 years working in Cardiff as a general dental practitioner with a particular interest in Implantology and Periodontology at a private specialist practice. He no longer provides general dental care and dedicates all of his clinical time to implantology.
From 2013-2019, Aly also worked as a Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Bristol Dental Hospital, University of Bristol. His research interests with the Clinical Trials Unit included toothwear and dentine hypersensitivity. He was also involved with undergraduate teaching & training of Periodontology at the University of Bristol, and has assisted with practical instruction on the Masters Programme in Implantology.
From 2015-2017 Aly was a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for Dentsply-Sirona Restoratives and designed and led multiple restorative dentistry courses as part of this role. He has also completed a Certificate in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry at the prestigious Dominic Hassall Training Institute. Aly has held a position on the board of directors of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), where he was the Welsh Representative from 2015-2017. He is a Member of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) and remains an active member of the Association of Dental Implantology. He continues to lecture in the national forum.
Aly enjoys working together with his patients in order to meet their oral health requirements. He believes in a holistic and specific approach tailored to each patient, from the nervous individual to those looking to improve their smile. He appreciates that one’s experiences and circumstances are fundamental to understanding their dental needs.
He lives in Cardiff with his wife Zara and two miniature dachshunds, Bibi and Bwana.
Sarah, originally from South Wales, gained her BDS from Bristol University in 2006. After returning to South Wales and completing a postgraduate year in Cardiff she has spent the last 13 years dedicated to providing a wide range of general dentistry withinCardiff and Newport.
Sarah enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a main interest in restorative treatments using her skills to help patients achieve a natural smile. Sarah is committed to providing excellent patient care and maintaining high professional standards. She is passionate about dental health and works hard to provide the best level of care and treatment whilst also creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where patients of all ages can feel at ease.
Sarah is committed to keeping up with dental advances and her professional development and invests time in clinical courses to further her skills.
Outside of dentistry Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, their three young children and friends. Sarah has a love for music and enjoys playing the piano and violin. She also works as a volunteer running a community toddler group and kids club.
Catherine has been in dentistry for over 25 years. First training to become a dental nurse in the world famous Eastman Dental Hospital and then going on to qualify as a Dental Hygienist and therapist in 1997 from the Royal London Hospital.
Catherine has been fortunate enough to work in some of the most prestigious and forward thinking practices in the UK, gaining invaluable experience that she has honed to treat patients with a gentle, thorough, patient focussed approach with an emphasis on prevention.
Whilst an accomplished Dental Hygienist who is also trained in tooth whitening (an accredited Enlighten & Phillips Zoom clinician) Catherine has expanded her skills into Facial Aesthetics including Anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, SkinPen(r), peels, WOW Fusion, Sunekos, Dermaplaning and skin care.
Catherine approaches facial aesthetics with the same philosophy as her dental work believing “it’s all about laying the right foundations and then building on it”
Karen Lockett Facial Aesthetics RGN NIPKaren founded Karen Locket Clinics in 2001, she is a State registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber; she holds clinics throughout the South West.Karen began her nursing career over 35 years ago as an SRN in general nursing and progressed within the NHS to Senior Sister in coronary ITU.
20 years ago she moved into the field of cosmetic treatments, an area which allows her to combine her medical experience and creative flair. She has a definitive skill for facial aesthetics and soon became a pioneer in her field, specialising in injection led aesthetic treatments; Karen was awarded the prestigious title of Best Mobile Practitioner in the UK at the 2012/2013 Aesthetic Awards. Karen’s expertise has developed her a reputation for a light touch, achieving very natural looking results. She is renowned for her pragmatic and honest approach, with treatments progressing only following initial, and on going, consultations and treatment plans. Karen is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and the British Association of Sclerotherapists, and is an accredited member of Save Face. She is regulated by the NMC – The Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Tracy McNulty Dental Hygienist, GDC Number: 3257
Tracy qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the University of Manchester Dental School in 1986 after gaining her Dental Nurse qualification from Cardiff Dental School in 1983.
Tracy returned to her hometown of Swansea after gaining her Hygienist qualification to work in private practice and Morriston Hospital. In 1988 she went to work in Saudi Arabia at the Military Hospital. She then spent ten years working at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh treating medically compromised patients, the Royal family, USA and UK Embassy staff as well as British Military personnel. After originally only planning on spending a year abroad, Tracy returned to the UK with a Husband, two children and a dog!
Tracy keeps up to date with all the latest advances in Dentistry by attending meetings and conferences with those who share her passion for treating patients with periodontal disease. Tracy is also an active member of the British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists (BSDHT).
Helen Guppy BSc (Hons) Practice Manager
Helen has been a member of the Dental Practice Manager’s Association for over 15 years and formerly ran a private practice in central London. Her background is in hotel management at The Conrad Chelsea Harbour. Helen is a highly motivated individual who demands high standards from all members of our team.Helen’s role is to make sure all our patients receive a really positive dental experience and she is always available to discuss any aspects of your treatment.
In her spare time she enjoys running, pilates, gardening and reading.
Rhiannon Bevan GDC Number: 138368
Deputy Practice Manager
Rhiannon qualified as a dental nurse in 2003. She started her dental career working for James Hull Associates in Ebbw Vale. She worked her way up from dental nurse to practice manager in 2012 when working at the Oasis Dental Practice in Basseleg. Having returned from maternity leave she was offered an opportunity to join the Mayhill Team as Deputy Manager. She is a committed and loyal member of the team.
In her spare time she loves spending time with her little boy. She enjoys walking and running and is a keen competitor showing her Ryeland sheep at agricultural shows.
Holly joined the Mayhill in 2014 and is now head nurse. She is an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the team. She enjoys taking on new challenges having recently completed her radiography qualification. She is also undertaking sedation nurse training. Holly always gives full attention to detail and has good leadership qualities. She has a caring and gentle disposition.
Holly lives in the countryside and has an active healthy lifestyle enjoying outdoor activities. She is a member of the local riding club and is involved in competitions.
Claire gained her dental nursing qualification in 2000 and her radiography in 2001. She has been nursing with David Guppy for over 20 years. She is a highly committed, caring and very capable nurse. She has a wealth of experience in all areas of dentistry especially with implants and root canal therapy. She is very popular amongst the team and always has a smile on her face.
In her spare time she enjoys running and exercise and entertaining her young family.
Deniza qualified as a dental nurse in 2011. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry but is very interested in orthodontics as she is undergoing Invisalign treatment herself.
She joined the Mayhill in 2017 and has proved to be an exceptionally capable and confident nurse in all aspects of her role. She has a gentle and calm disposition.
In her spare time Deniza enjoys spending time with her fiancée and dog doing adrenaline filled activities where possible.
Alyce qualified in 2016 after completing an apprenticeship in the Forest of Dean and has been dental nursing since 2014. She joined the Mayhill in 2016 and has become a valued team member. She takes pride in ensuring patients are well informed and comfortable. She is currently developing her skills in orthodontic treatment scanning and co-ordinating.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and walking her dog.
All our clinical staff are fully qualified and registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). Registration with the GDC ensures they adhere to GDC standards and ongoing professional development.
